We all know the pictures that flash after the calamities of large tankers at sea through the media landscape.
These are pictures of oil-covered beaches and animals that torture painfully in this film of oil. Furthermore, we also see people trying to help the animals and rid the beaches of oil.
German researchers from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg have now found their own way to take action against oil disasters: magnetism!
Certainly, oil is not magnetic, but there are acids that attract oil. The researchers mixed this type of acid with iron oxide. This mixture binds 14 times the amount of oil in relation to its own mass and can then be removed with magnet without leaving any residue from the water.
A terrific invention that will help animals, humans and the environment in the future.
