Asphalt is gray to black and especially hot in summer.
This particular heat radiating from the asphalt is one of the reasons why cities heat up enormously. The result of hotter cities is the use of more air conditioning systems, higher water consumption and higher electricity consumption, which in turn contributes to global warming.

In a pilot project, the city of Los Angeles wants to counteract this damage to the environment with a new kind of road surface, more precisely a color called “Coolseal”.

This color is light, almost white and ensures that the asphalt does not heat up so much. The light coat spreads over the asphalt and can lower the temperature by up to seven degrees, which also lowers the city’s temperature.

Whether this example will make school, will show in the future, but every step towards environmental protection is a right one.
